Grindelwald just couldn’t bring himself to kill Dumbledore.  Those brief summer nights that he had convinced himself were nothing, just a way to a means, revealed themselves to mean so much more to him.
The only way for him to win would be to kill Dumbledore and that was suddenly not an option anymore, if it ever was one to begin with.  In that moment, he let him guard down just enough to be disarmed.
Grindelwald never told his old friend about that moment of weakness, of what stayed him hand just enough to lose the loyalty of the Elder Wand.
Dumbledore already knew.

She has the same air of freedom about her, the same playful nature though she didn’t have quite the same intensity as did Sirius.
It was actually a relieving difference.
With Sirius, it was like looking into the sun too long.  With Tonks, it was like looking at the stars.

So many people now just couldn’t understand how it could be given his pureblood attitudes and think that, somewhere along the way, someone had made a mistake.  But back then, it wasn’t such a stretch of the imagination.
Salazar didn’t hate muggleborns because they weren’t born into magical families or think them inferior in anyway - it was because he didn’t trust their families not to kill them all in their sleep.  The history books might make light of the Witch Trials and Witch burnings but the simple fact of the matter is: Not all Magical People knew those spells, not all of them even had their wands, not all of them were given the chance for a trial.
His wife, a powerful witch herself, not only knew this but agreed with Salazar’s opinion on the matter.  If the child posed a threat to Hogwarts, even if not intentionally, could they, in good conscious, let them in and endanger them all?
Over the years, this view was twisted and warped into something Salazar would never have supported and, if he knew what actions and ideologies were credited to him through it, he might have kept his opinion on the matter a bit quieter.

It was a kind of game for Fenrir.
He’d leave Remus alone for a stretch of time - anywhere ranging from a few months to a few years - and remind Remus that he’s not human.  Sometimes it will just be a note (written in human blood to tempt the Wolf in Remus) and others he will show up in person.
The message is always the same, however.
'You're one of mine and it's only a matter of time before you accept that.'

It took a long time for Regulus to finish the whole potion, hours upon hours, but he refused to hurt Kreacher by making him an accomplice in his self induced torture.  He couldn’t help that Kreacher had to be there at all but he had hoped, however futile, to make it as less traumatizing as possible.
Hermione was the only one to catch on that Kreacher, when he told them the story, that at no point does he mention forcing Regulus to drink the potion.

It’s one of those older cars that people like to think of as ‘Classics’, though no one would think so by the state of it.  Remus tries to take care of it, the best he can, but he is, after all, a Wizard and a Car is a very muggle item.  He follows the manual (that’s missing a few pages) and tries to understand all the maintenance work involved.
The end result is a car that’s worse for wear, even though it’s not used as much as it deserves to be and Remus loves it.  It was his mother’s old car and he had many fond memories of it.
He’s had to live out of it a few times, stopped Sirius from bewitching it Merlin knows how many times, and many a time seemed to be one of the few things he could truly rely on.
When it finally broke down to the point he couldn’t repair it himself or afford a muggle mechanic, it felt like another friend had left him.

Bellatrix is not maternal in any way, shape, or form; she has no patience for children and fully believes in the ‘Seen, not Heard’ method of raising them.
But she wanted to have some, if only to continue her bloodline.  She made a nice pureblood marriage not only because it was the only marriage worthy of her but to have nice pureblood children to honor her family with.
Loving her husband was irrelevant, she hadn’t married him for love but for his blood.  They tried everything to conceive but every Healer they went to told her the same thing; She would never bear any children.

They were in the same year and were close friends.  They found comfort in each other by their similar backgrounds; they both had overpowering parents, they were intelligent and both had a desire to prove themselves.
As they got older, the stress they both felt from their families grew that much more intense.  They were never sure who started the kiss that began it, it seemed like it happened simultaneously.  Neither minded the new change in their relationship and they continued it until after Hogwarts.
They broke up only because Regulus didn’t like how obsessed Barty was becoming toward their Master.

It was one of the things that haunted Sirius in Azkaban.  If he had only tried harder for Regulus, fought for him instead of just letting him go.  Maybe then Regulus wouldn’t have become a Death Eater, he wouldn’t have tried to run from them after it was too late, wouldn’t have be murdered.
Sirius felt as though he had offered his brother up on a platter - Regulus’s life for his own, unknowingly brief, freedom.

Regulus always thought the large black dog was a stray that had wandered up from the village.  It was very tame and was quite friendly towards him.
He was very sad when the dog stopped coming up to the school.
Regulus never realized the last year he had seen the dog had also been Sirius’s last year at Hogwarts.
